This is a great explanation of a new year to outlive the expectations you've given yourself. At the same time continuing to pick up what you lacked the year before. It's another starting point either to be disappointed or blessed ? That's the future for you unknown and not knowing sparks automatic fear

Thanks for the share

Loved this. I started on Substack recently-ish and I've been trying to find and connect with new substack bloggers. I was reading a few and was about to give up (too many repetitive words and run-on sentences and typos) when I stumbled across yours, and I'm so glad I did. I've subscribed - have a happy slow January, and may your missing socks be found ;)

I really enjoyed your imaginative portrayal of January as a house before everyone wakes up. I feel the same way; it’s like no one’s woken up and it’s mine. It’s silent yet subtly hopeful and inspiring with sunlight streaming through the window. And full of beginnings and chances

This was beautiful and the perfect way for me to begin a cold January morning and a return to what I set down two weeks ago.

How hauntingly beautiful. January is my birth month, and I’ve always resented its dreariness. Your writing has given me a new perspective. This piece actually reminds me of a song. January Hymn, by The Decemberists ❤️
